NetApp FlexCache software can be added to existing FAS or V-Series systems running NFS. Dedicated storage acceleration systems can be implemented where only the caching function is required out of the storage systems. NetApp® Storage Acceleration (SA) Appliances are a family of storage systems that host only FlexCache volumes. While FlexCache software can be added to existing FAS or V-Series systems running NFS, customers will find this new family of products more cost effective in deployments where only the caching function is required out of the storage systems. NetApp SA Appliances support both standalone and active-active configuration.
