Following a virtual readiness assessment the next stage to virtualisation is typically to hold an onsite workshop where we can provide a detailed overview of the benefits, best practices and operational requirements of the VMware product range specific to the customer’s requirements and infrastructure. The workshop allows for information to be gathered that will form part of a VMware design.
This design element of this workshop is available in 2 formats:-
Fast Track Design
The Fast Track programme allows you to be up and running with a live VMware infrastructure within a matter of days. This engagement typically includes:
- Installation and configuration of VMware ESX servers (approx 5 ESX servers)
- Installation and configuration of VMware Virtual Centre (physical or virtual)
- Configuration of VMware services; HA/DRS/VMotion
- Creation of simple LUNs to host virtual machines
- 5 x P2Vs using VMware’s free P2V converter
- Full testing of VMware platform and sign off
- Documentation covering design
Additional services can be bolted onto the fast track programme such as SRM/View/Back Up Integration
Typically 5 days
Detailed Design
The detailed design caters for a more lengthy engagement and typically involves:
- Installation and configuration of VMware ESX servers (1 or more sites)
- Installation and configuration of VMware Virtual Centre (physical or virtual at 1 or more sites)
- Configuration of VMware services; HA/DRS/VMotion/StorageVMotion and others such as FT
- Unlimited P2Vs using VMware’s free P2V converter or other 3rd partry tool such as PlateSpin(requires separate purchase)
- Back Up integration into VMware using third party vendor
- Full testing of VMware platform and sign off
- Full detailed documentation covering design, back up and any post implementation changes
Additional services can be bolted onto the fast track programme such as SRM/View.
Typically requires between 10 to 20 days of services
