Overview:
Our BIM Level 2 Live event – held at Mercedes-Benz World earlier this month – set out to guide attendees through a fully compliant BIM Level 2 project. With guest speakers from BIM Object, BIM Regions and Hoare Lea, the event provided real-world examples of a BIM project, as well as adding clarification to the workflows and documentation required. Throughout the day there were various breakout sessions that included a VR construction demonstration with a HTC Vive, as well as a demonstration of Point Cloud Scanning Technology from Faro.
The day was filled with industry topics, including:
- INTRODUCTION TO BIM
Introduction to BIM and how it is changing the landscape of the construction industry and supply chains.
- DOCUMENTATION
An overview and breakdown of the documentation needed throughout a BIM project lifecycle, along with overviews of what is required by each discipline at different stages.
- COLLABORATION
A consider how disciplines collaborate on a BIM project and the tools that accompany the collaboration process.
- DESIGN AND DETAIL
A walk-through level of detail requirements and how models are populated as the BIM project progresses through various stages of design.
- CO-ORDINATION
An overview of combine model disciplines and checking information requirements throughout the BIM process.
- DATA DROPS AND HANDOVER
Demonstrating how project data is presented and used during data drops and handover stages.
