Customer Challenge

In preparation for their St. Pancras HospitalTransformation Programme, Camden & Islington NFT had the vision to form a Digital Construction & Estates Management Strategy in line with industry standards. The objective is to support maximising the value of the planned capital programme, increase efficiency, reduce risk & reduce operational costs through the lifecycle of the Hospital.

The transformation involves construction of a flagship inpatient building at Highgate East replacing the ageing St Pancras Hospital.

Camden & Islington NFT wanted to appoint Information Managers working client side in line with ISO19650 to validate the project team’s information deliverables & also to enable the delivery of accurate as-built digital information models & O&M manuals to support lifecycle asset management.

The Majenta Solution

Majenta’s Technical Consultant’s carried out a workshop led Digital Estates Strategy Review with key stakeholders in order to investigate the ‘as is’ situation of digital systems, processes, & assets.

Majenta’s team supported the client to establish an Information Management plan including project & asset related information requirements which were embellished in a suite of BIM documents.

The team went on to work with key stakeholders to develop a central repository for Trust information as well as carrying out a review of the incumbent CAFM system , MiCAD. Standard Operating Procedure were created & staff training carried out to maximise adoption.

Majenta provided Information Management services for the client, performing data audits, supply chain coordination, clash detection & handover support.

Business Impact

Better outcomes through early collaboration & input from operational & facilities management teams. Defining data requirements at an early stage during the asset lifecycle is leading to better project outcomes. Acquiring the appropriate amount of information at the correct moment reduced costs.

Implementation of lean information management processes & validated data exchanges is reducing waste, leading to improved efficiency & cost savings. The creation of a unified model environment aligning all project team & contractor information is reducing rework, conflicts, waste, & delays by proactively addressing clashes at an early stage.

This is resulting in improved project efficiency, reduced costs, & a more streamlined workflow. The project’s ability to specify & receive fit for purpose asset information at handover will ensure that the assets are fully functional & meet the intended purpose, resulting in optimal performance & reduced operational costs.

“The team at Majenta, with their industry knowledge and experience, have proven their worth as a valuable resource in helping the team at Camden and Islington NHS Trust to navigate the early stages of BIM adoption”
