Unlocking DfE projects with BIM Information Management at G F Tomlinson
Majenta partnered with contractor G F Tomlinson, providing expert BIM Information Management services that enabled them to meet stringent Department for Education (DfE) requirements, secure the Polesworth School project, and lay a foundation for future success.

Project context
As one of the largest independent regional contractors operating within Central England, G F Tomlinson was planning to bid for the Polesworth School “Bramcote Building” project. A critical requirement for being appointed was the ability to demonstrate full compliance with the DfE's specific and rigorous BIM standards.
The challenge was twofold: to prove capability to win the project, and to implement and manage BIM processes through to a successful handover.
G F Tomlinson engaged Majenta to provide comprehensive BIM Information Management services. The collaboration began during the pre-construction phase, where Majenta’s experts advised the bid team on how to structure a response that successfully showcased their BIM competency to the DfE. Once the project was secured, Majenta’s role expanded to that of BIM Information Manager for the live project.
This involved managing all key BIM-related tasks, including qualifying the supply chain for BIM capability, auditing data at key project milestones, and performing regular clash detection on the design models. Through consistent meetings, updates, and one-to-one training, Majenta ensured the entire project team understood their roles and responsibilities, guaranteeing a smooth process through to the final handover of the compliant Asset Information Model (AIM).

The partnership delivered significant advantages that extended beyond the initial Polesworth School project.
Securing competitive DfE framework projects — Majenta's initial support during the bid phase was instrumental in helping G F Tomlinson successfully demonstrate compliance and secure their place on the Polesworth School project.
Ensuring project-wide BIM competency and compliance — Through direct training and ongoing support, Majenta equipped the G F Tomlinson team and their supply chain with the necessary skills and understanding to adhere to the DfE's BIM processes from start to finish.
Mitigating costly rework through proactive clash detection — Our clash detection services identified multiple significant issues in the design phase, including clashes between structural steel and MEP equipment, which were resolved digitally before construction began, thereby saving time and money.
Guaranteed delivery of a compliant asset information model — The structured information management process ensured that all project deliverables were handed over on schedule and that the DfE would receive a fully compliant AIM that met all of their expectations for asset management.
