Project context
Two strategic partners faced significant challenges in collaborating effectively due to complex and differently configured PLM systems. The CAD formats used by each organisation were incompatible, creating substantial data exchange issues.
The sheer volume of data to manage was massive, although not all data changed with each design iteration. Protecting intellectual property was paramount for both organisations, requiring careful control over data access and sharing.
The design process was fragmented due to each party operating in isolated silos, leading to synchronisation issues and hindering effective communication. The project required support for both technical language translation and CAD translation while seamlessly coordinating all data within the partners’ respective PLM systems.
Majenta designed and implemented a comprehensive solution to address these complex challenges.
CAD integration and 3D CAD translation — Majenta leveraged its expertise to ensure seamless data exchange between incompatible formats, enabling efficient collaboration.
Workflow management — We implemented robust workflow management tools to synchronise the dispersed teams, effectively reducing silos.
Use of JT/Digibuck — The strategic use of JT/Digibuck facilitated the efficient sharing of 3D product data, speeding up design reviews while safeguarding IP.
Data consultancy — Majenta provided expert data consultancy services to effectively manage large volumes of data, focusing only on the most relevant information for each project update.
Our multifaceted solution delivered substantial benefits to both partner organisations.
The solution implemented by Majenta resulted in a significant reduction in the time and effort required to exchange design data between the two organisations and their differing PLM systems (TcE and 3DX).
This streamlined process freed up valuable time and resources, allowing teams to focus on core design and engineering tasks. Improved synchronisation and collaboration, facilitated by the new workflow management tools, led to faster project timelines and a noticeable reduction in errors during design iterations.
Enhanced data security and intellectual property protection, achieved through the strategic use of JT/Digibuck, allowed both parties to feel confident in sharing necessary information without compromising sensitive data. The streamlined technical and CAD translation processes ensured both organisations consistently worked with accurate and up-to-date data, minimising the risk of errors and misunderstandings.
By fostering seamless collaboration and efficient data exchange, Majenta empowered the two partners to work together more effectively, accelerate project timelines, and achieve their shared goals.
